How to Update Galaxy R I9103 with CM 10 Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware

Jellybean 4.1.2 for Galaxy R is here and you can now update the same very easily just by following the detailed procedure which we will be checking out in the due course of this article. This comes at a time when Google now comes up with the latest refreshed Jellybean 4.2 firmware which too will be ported to Galaxy R unofficially though. Samsung has made it clear that it won’t be coming up with any official firmware update that is Jellybean 4.1 or 4.2 update officially but all thanks to Adam77Root about this Unofficial Cyanogen Mod 10 firmware which comes with a very high feature list.
Since this is a custom ROM firmware which is still in its initial days, there will be some minor bugs which will be address in the coming days with the help of OTA updates capability which this update has got. To make it more-simple, we have summed up a detailed things which work and which doesn’t below,
Things which Work:
  • Mobile network
  • Data connection
  • Audio (microphone may or may not work, works for calls but doesn’t for some others like, Google Now voice search.)
  • Wi-Fi
  • Video player (may or may not work)
  • Accelerometer, magnetic field, proximity, battery temperature sensors
  • BLN feature (you need to install either the free or the paid version of BLN Control from Play Store)
  • Auto brightness needs manual workaround
  • USB mass storage
What doesn’t work:
  • Camera (even the app isn’t included)
  • BlueTooth
  • Gyroscope
Disclaimer: Please note that we should not be held responsible in any manner in whole or in parts if any damage is done to your device caused by updating the firmware which is a very unlikely event if you follow the instructions as mentioned in the article including the pre requisites and the procedure to update the phone.
Express Pre Requisites:
  • All the data in your device will have to backed up with the help of below mentioned steps. Ensure that you are not creating the backup with the help of KIES as it may not detect the device in the custom ROM firmware most probably.
SMS – Use “For backup tips, check our guides on how to sync your data to the cloud and how to create local backups of your mobile data.
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log -Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
  • Minimum charge left in your device should be at least 60% and also enable the USB Debugging in your device from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should beticked. Disable or remove all the security suites installed in your Galaxy R as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Since this is the custom ROM firmware, make sure that your Galaxy R is rooted on any firmware. To check on whether your device is rooted or not, head over to the Google PLAY Store to download “Root Checker” for checking on whether your Galaxy R is rooted or not.
So once assuming that you are don with all the above mentioned steps, you can now head over to the next page where we have summed up a detailed guide on how to apply with this firmware update.
