Samsung GALAXY S III Smartphone Uses Corning Gorilla Glass 2

Samsung Electronics designed the GALAXY S III device using a 4.8-inch high-definition (HD) Super AMOLED display. The use of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 helps to reduce glass thickness by up to 20% and also offers improved damage and abrasion resistance that is required by the consumers. In addition, the glass enables the slim and sleek design of the device and protects the display from bumps and scratches.
Hankil Yoon, SVP of global product strategy at Samsung Electronics, stated that the partnership with Corningon the earlier GALAXY S series smart phones were successful. Hence, they continued their alliance with Corning to offer the thin, stylish GALAXY S III to their clients. Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is a perfect solution for developing Samsung’s superior smartphone devices with a lightweight and thin design, an excellent touch experience and enhanced damage and scratch resistance that are expected by the consumers, added Yoon.
Corning Gorilla Glass was first launched in 2007 and it has set the industry standard for
cover glass. At present, it is the most extensively used cover glass: deployed by over 30 major brands and used in over 750 product models worldwide.
